Daily breakout gap setup with a news catalyst. $WMT has been in a reversal past few days and had news this AM which caused a nice gap up. The 145 level was my main watch at the open. When sellers couldnt drag this down and we started to push premarket highs I took entry just shy of the 145 break. The tape looked strong in favor of the buyers and knew if we pushed through 145 we could likely get at least a 40-50 cent pop if not a dollar. I got a good fill on the contracts and started to scale out as we strongly ripped through 145 into 145.25s, 145.40s and 145.50s while premiums were elevated. I locked in more than the daily goal by getting rid of all my position except 1 contract and as Ive been journaling, I wanted to practice trying to hold runners. Im starting small with just one contract and managing basically by letting it do its thing unless we break entry price since the risk is so low. I did that today and while it Px didnt work out in my favor I still practiced it! I held and once my entry price was hit I trailed out.

This trade was managed very well. Considering my target was only about 1 dollar on the underlying, risk was only about 30 cents I was pleased with how I just took gains as I made them.
