I can think of a combination of 4-5 reasons why the trade didn't work.
- it was up for the third day already - not the main reason, but worth noting.
- intraday it spiked for for 4 candles in a row. The candles had pretty big range aswell compared to the previous day for example. Then it dropped fast. It's not an orderly pullback. You don't want to buy a pullback of just 1 or 2 candles. An orderly pullback you can buy forms slowly over the course of ~20 minutes and more.
- it ran into the $50 which is an important level just because of the round number. It was getting extended on the daily chart and intraday and hit the round number.
- a big reason for the crazy moves was the fact that this stock had very low float. Less than 8M float. This means explosive moves, because traders compete for a small number of shares. Another stock with a very small float that was in play today was VSCP (about 2M float). I use freestockcharts, com and I can put the float on my watchlist so I always see it and I know whether I can expect explosive moves from a stock. Low float stocks may also have wide spread, especially when they have kind of low volume. It means you can get really bad fills when using market orders and you have to be careful trading them...

I think the tag for getting your trade reviewed should be bowsreview. Just one word without a space.

I'm not a very good trader myself, but this is what I noticed about this trade and I hope it helps.
